Agricultural Advisory
APPLE/STONE FRUITS
(PLUM, APRICOT, PEACH)
Dormancy
·
Dormancy due to cold weather
has stopped sap flow in plants hence start pruning and training
operations. Apply bordaux or Chaubatia
paste on the pruning cuts. Apply
recommended dose of FYM, Single Super Phosphate and Muriate of Potash in the
plant basins. Plant grafted seedlings as soil moisture is sufficient to
enhance their establishment.
SUB TROPICAL FRUITS (PAPAYA, BANANA, MANGO, GAUVA)
Vegetative with slow growth rate
·
Protect the plants of 4-5
years age by covering with dry and Sarkanda grass by keeping Eastward side
open for proper sun light and air.
·
For establishing new
orchards select frost resistant varieties only.
Vegetables
(CAULIFLOWER, CABBAGE, PEAS)
Vegetative
in peas head formation &
initiation stage in cabbage and cauliflower
·
Soil moisture due to recent
rains is optimum for enhancing vegetation growth of winter vegetables.
·
Apply last dose of cane
(10kg/bigha) in cabbage and cauliflower
·
In
cauliflower chances of emergence of downy mildew has increased due to
prevailing weather conditions.
Infested plant may show brown colour spot in underside the
leaves. Apply Redomil-MZ (25g/100
litre water).
·
The
occurrence of frost may cause black rot disease in cauliflower which has also
been noticed in some areas of Solan. To control it spray Mancozeb (25 g) with
Streptocycline (1 g/10 litre of water).
·
Harvest
leafy vegetables
wheat
Tillering
·
Soil
moisture is favourable for tillering of wheat crop and hence apply second
split dose of nitrogen.
LIVESTOCK
Lactation phase
·
The
night temperature in the region has decreased considerably. The present chill
may create tension in the animals. To
overcome, this tension animal use more body heat as a result milk production
is decreased. Supply high energy food
and lukewarm water to the animals.
·
In case of milking animal, udder should be washed with lukewarm water
containing salt for 10-15 minutes before milking so as to increase blood
circulation toward udder and ultimately milk production.
